Happy Year of the Water Dragon! KTOF had a very successful January session and we have another great topic for February. This month's session will be on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 2 - 4pm.
Topic: Navigating Feelings of Abandonment
Whether it’s separation anxiety, attachment or anger issues, feelings of abandonment can permeate an adoptee’s experience. How do adoptees navigate feelings of loss (i.e., feeling not being loveable enough to keep, victimization “why me?”)? These feelings have the potential to snowball when adoptees experience a death of a loved one, break-ups with a significant other, when friendships grow apart or are triggered simply with a missed phone call. What are helpful ways for parents to talk about these issues? How do adoptees feel about these issues? What do we need from our parents and friends?
Host: TBD ( If you are interest in hosting, please contact us ASAP so we can determine if the location makes sense for the majority of the group).
Please RSVP to keys2ourfuture@hotmail.com if you would like to participate in this month's lively discussion. Remember that we still maintain a 12-parent maximum for our sessions.
I look forward to seeing you!
Warm regards,
Sheryl Nguyen
