About Us

Keys To Our Future is a non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado that provides free post adoption support services to parents of international adoptees. Our meetings are offered in a Q&A format with a panel of 2-4 adult international adoptees to address various adoption questions in a safe conversational environment with a group of 6-12 parents. For families located outside Colorado, we encourage parents to email us with questions.

Our purpose is to capitalize on the benefits of open communication between adult adoptees and parents of international adoptees. During our sessions, adult adoptees share their experiences with parents of adoptees to equip them with information/ideas needed to communicate and relate with their adopted children.

Panel topics include:

  • Acculturation
  • Communication strategies
  • Birth families
  • Identity Crisis
  • Racism
  • Resources

We value having an open dialogue where adult adoptees and parents of adoptees can exchange thoughts, feelings, concerns, struggles and triumphs in a safe environment; free of judgement, with the goal of supporting healthy, happy families.

The Keys To Our Future website is an extension of our services to reach a broader community of adoptees and parents of adoptees from Korea, Russia/Central Europe, China, Philippines, Africa, Haiti, the Caribbean, Latin America, Micronesia, Vietnam and Cambodia.

OUR STORY

Keys to Our Future was created after a panel of Korean adult adoptees answered questions from parents of adoptees during a session at Korean Heritage Camp in June 2009. The panel was scheduled for a 45 minute session and led to several extended conversations between adult adoptees and parents, leading to a realization of a need in the broader international adoptive community.

Keys to Our Future was founded by Alisha Kwon Hammett and Sheryl Seon Nguyen; both Korean adult adoptees, and is sponsored by All About Adoption Services, Inc. Collectively, they have over 12 years of experience speaking and volunteering in the adoption community with an unwavering passion to be a resource to as many parents as possible.
